New York Central Library
This is a picture I took while visiting New York. I only had my compact camera with me, which fitted easily in my pocket. I used a Canon IXUS 40 set to auto-mode for the shot.
I think I captured the character of the library well, with all the hustle and bustle going on in the street around it. The sky was really overcast and grey. My compact camera didn't make a very good job of this, so I opted to make the picture black & white.
I think photos of old buildings and urban photography in general look better in greyscale. It adds to the character. What do you think?
It was quite difficult to get a shot of the library that was traffic free. As you probably know, New York traffic is mad. Everytime I took a shot, I got a taxi cab or the tail-end of a bus in the foreground.
Anyway, let me know what you think. Good or bad!
