The idea of adding a watermark to your images to protect them from online theft has been around for some time now.
Although unfortunately it does not guarantee that your images will not be used without your permission it does deter the less determined image user.
There are many ways to change your images online so that they cannot be printed or used on other websites.
However I am just going to show you the simplest and easiest way to add a text graphic to the centre of your image, which will make your image less appealing to use without permission.
As you will want to protect all of your images that you place online you will want to create an automated action within Photoshop so that a watermark can be added at a click of a button instead of going through the whole manual process yourself for each image.
The following instructions will incorporate how you set up this action the first time you add a text graphic to your image.
You will want to make the text less bold so that your image can still be viewed easily. This can be done by making the text a little less transparent.
Now in future when you want to add a text graphic to your images you simply click on the action Watermark and click the Play button and your text will appear on your image.
